Position Summary:

The Financial Aid Assistant is responsible for providing prompt, courteous and accurate customer service to students and parents at any of the AACC campuses. The Financial Aid Assistant collects and screens paperwork for completion prior to delivery to the appropriate office staff member for review and processing. This position provides general clerical support to the Financial Aid Office. Daily supervision of this position is provided by the Assistant Director, Customer Service.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Maintain a working knowledge of office and college procedures in order to deliver customer service support to students and parents at the counter or by phone, as directed. Assist students with completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Refer students and parents to other office staff members or campus offices, as appropriate, to ensure a high level of service. Provide and collect forms and paperwork needed to process student eligibility.

Provide general clerical support, including scanning of paperwork to Perceptive Content, mail sorting, data entry, proofreading, answering general financial aid emails, tracking and ordering supplies, and assisting with various tasks associated with financial aid programs.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED.

A minimum of one (1) year of related experience

Demonstrated customer service experience and effective customer service skills.

Must have the ability to tactfully deal with a diverse population of students and parents.

Excellent interpersonal and verbal skills.

Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of the office.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Ellucian Colleague and Perceptive Content.
