The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is accepting applicants for a Marketing Coordinator in the Office of Communications and Marketing, the central communications office for the college. This position reports to the Director of Marketing, and is under minimal supervision. The Marketing Coordinator will enhance the capacity of the Office of Communications and Marketing to transmit integrated messaging to target audiences across an array of new and traditional media. This position will support goals for enrollment growth in key programs, and help tell brand and student success stories, positioning The Citadel as the premier choice for higher education.
The Marketing Coordinator will be responsible for media buying, negotiating contracts for advertising and coordinating paperwork for internal purchasing processes. They will keep up with new mediums and trends in advertising, research regional audiences and keep up with behavioral trends of key prospective student groups. This person will be required to meet with campus constituencies to identify their marketing needs and formulate recommended plans of action; manage relationships with external vendors to oversee implementation of contracts, manage internal deadlines for marketing campaigns; and set up photoshoots and support video direction, as it applies to marketing campaigns. They will be responsible for social media advertising, leading paid social media campaigns and supporting organic social media as needed. The Marketing Coordinator will also be responsible for writing content for marketing initiatives with projects including (but not limited to) campaign slogans, ad copy, content marketing, blog posts, etc.
This person must demonstrate and possess a natural “customer-driven” orientation in providing exceptional services to college “clients”; strong diplomatic and communications skills; good judgment and confidence to complete competing priorities; and the ability to work with grace under pressure in a team environment. They must be a self-starter with strong attention to detail and multi-tasking capabilities.
Must have a Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, communications, writing, or related field. Must have experience in the following: marketing and advertising in all phases of a campaign, from concept creation to implementation and evaluation; evaluating consumer (prospective student) needs and aligning them with targeted advertising solutions; written communication and creative writing, social media/digital advertising tactics, account management and delivering positive client service. Must have a creative eye and the ability to come up with fresh story telling tactics that align with recruitment goals.
At least two years of professional marketing experience is desired. Higher education experience is a plus.
Overnight travel may occasionally be required for professional development. Occasional after hours support required.
