The College of Graduate and Professional Studies, University of New England's online college, has experienced unprecedented growth over the last five years. CGPS is a progressive college, run with business-centered principles in an open-concept office space. CGPS is searching for an energetic, forward-thinking leader in the role of Associate Dean to guide our Academic Operations, which includes Academic Programs, Instructional Design, Enrollment, Student Support, Tactical Marketing, Assessment, Policy and Accreditation.

The Associate Dean of Academic Operations in the College of Graduate and Professional Studies is responsible to the Dean and provides creative leadership in the promotion of excellence in undergraduate and graduate online programs while also collaborating with the CGPS Chief Business Officer to ensure that fiscal and strategic goals, set by CGPS Finance and Strategy, are achieved. The Associate Dean of Academic Operations assumes responsibilities of the Dean as delegated and serves as the CEO in the absence of the Dean.

Ideal candidates will have experience in online learning, specifically programs tailored to non-traditional working professionals. Successful candidates for this position understand of the role of relationship and customer service in higher education, as well as the curricular and instructional design requirements to ensure academic integrity. The Associate Dean is a critical leadership position for CGPS, collaborating with current administration to provide vision and strategic thinking for the future of the college

This is a full-time, twelve-month senior administrator position located on the Portland, ME, campus- this is not a remote position.


  • Terminal doctoral degree required.
  • 5 years progressive leadership experience in academic operations and undergraduate/graduate teaching or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
  • Two or more years of management/supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated experience to motivate staff and lead teams in a dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated experience to manage complex interaction of academic programming needs and fiscal resources.
  • Record of functioning as an effective collaborator.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong ability to prioritize.
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office).
  • Must be willing and able to work on-site at the UNE Portland campus. (This position is not remote.)
