This is a part-time (.75 time-base), benefits eligible, temporary position anticipated to end one year from the date of appointment with the possibility of reappointment and/or permanency. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs. Incumbent works 11 months per year and is paid over 12 months. Anticipated month(s) off will be June - July 2018 and thereafter in the same months the following year.
Under general supervision of the Directors of the School of Theatre, Television and Film, School of Music and Dance, and Arts Alive, the Box Office Coordinator is responsible for the smooth operation of the Performing Arts Box Office supporting ticket sales for the Theatre, Television and Film productions as well as Music and Dance productions. These responsibilities include but are not limited to, operating cash registers, reconciliations, make deposits, train student assistants, and assisting the general public, faculty, staff and students. This position is also responsible for establishing and maintaining a positive working environment.
This position also supports Front of House functions for the School of Theatre, Television and Film and provides logistic support of Arts Alive SDSU events.

Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $2,470 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $2,141 - $3,548 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

Entry to this classification requires fundamental written and oral communication skills, including a sound foundation in English grammar, spelling, and punctuation; an ability to understand standard office procedures; an ability to operate standard office equipment; an ability to learn office technology systems; an ability to perform basic mathematical calculations; and typing and keyboard skills.
These entry qualifications would normally be obtained through completion of a high school program or its equivalent and some experience in an office environment.
Preferred Qualifications and Specialized Skills
Excellent customer service skills and ability to project a polished professional image.
Have a basic understand of production logistic details.
Ticket office/ticket sales and cash handling experience.
Experience greeting and verbally communicating instructions and information to customers in person and/or over the phone.
Professional experience leading the work of others, including hiring, scheduling, training, prioritizing, and evaluating their work.
Experience with data entry and updating database records.
Experience developing, updating, and managing large budget spreadsheets, charts, and graphs.
Experience coordinating administrative support functions for a group.
Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
Must be patient and understanding to assist students, staff, faculty and general public.
Experience working at a box office.
Experience using SABO (Seat Advisor Box Office) ticketing system.
