Position Information

 

This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent (probationary) position. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.

Under general direction from the Director of Budget and Fiscal Operations, the Administrative Analyst/Specialist plays a key role in support of the Library and Information Access budget. This position produces and analyzes all monthly budget reports, completes financial reports and analysis at the request of administration, prepares budget transfer documents, reviews/approves monthly faculty and staff payroll attendance reporting, and prepares all documentation for Library travel.  Additionally, this position serves as the library’s liaison with the Center for Human Resources for staff recruitments, payroll and benefits issues, and processes various Human Resource documents.  The successful incumbent will have the ability to make independent decisions and exercise sound judgment.

Compensation and Benefits

 

Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $3,875 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,288 - $5,809 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

Qualifications

 

Minimum Qualifications 

Entry to this classification requires general knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and/or program field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.

Preferred Qualifications and Specialized Skills

  • Minimum one year of professional experience working in a higher education library setting.

  • Minimum one year of professional experience working in a higher education or large public sector setting.

  • Minimum one year of professional experience working with travel policies, procedures and forms in a higher education or large public sector setting.

  • Minimum one year of professional experience working with financial reports in a higher education or large public sector setting.

  • Minimum one year of professional experience developing, updating, and managing large reports, spreadsheets, charts, and graphs in a higher education or large public sector setting.

  • Minimum one year of professional experience with fiscal management, maintaining and preparing budget projections, and analysis in a higher education or large public sector setting.

  • Minimum one year of professional experience processing human resources recruitment employment forms and documents.

  • Minimum one year of professional experience preparing financial account deposits and reconciliations.

  • Ability to master Library and University budget and finance, human resource and travel policies and procedures.

  • Ability to use financial systems (i.e. Oracle, Adaptive, PeopleSoft, PI Profile, Advance).

  • Intermediate experience with Excel and databases.

  • An understanding of basic accounting principles.

  • Experience analyzing financial information.

  • Proven ability to provide excellent customer service and create positive relationships with business partners.

  • Detail oriented with a high degree of accuracy.

  • Ability to see the big picture and recognize how each individual’s role contributes to the organization.

  • Ability to communicate and share complex information effectively through all verbal and written formats.
