EMS Faculty, Colorado Mountain College, Vail Valley at Edwards
This full time faculty position begins in August 2018 with a 30 credit hour teaching load annually.
CMC is seeking an experienced EMS professional and dynamic educator to teach classes that may include: EMT-B; EMT-B Refresher; Wilderness First Responder; Wilderness EMT upgrade, Basic EKG, and IV-Therapy, and related classes. The successful candidate will work to strengthen partnerships with local employers such as hospitals, health care agencies, as well as the local ski areas.
Teaching responsibilities expected of all faculty include: teaching course load as assigned, evaluate courses and assess student learning, meet established course, program and learning outcomes, comply with guidelines and policies, maintain office hours per established standards, develop rapport with students, assist with and participate in advising, orientation and registration activities.
CMC Faculty are generally expected to engage in scholarly endeavors as well as service activities such as campus and college committees, participation in relevant projects, mentor peers, participate in and assist with assessment activities, program review, student organization, recruiting and retention.
Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to working in a culturally diverse environment and the ability to effectively work with students, employees, vendors and community members having diverse backgrounds. Conversational Spanish language abilities may be helpful.
Salary range: $57,492 – 74,144. Salary placement dependent upon education, related experience and higher education teaching experience.
Qualified candidates must be credentialed to teach in this program or eligible to be credentialed. Examples of ideal qualifications include:
An Associate’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university and 10,000 hours of verified, paid EMS work experience in the past five years is required; or Bachelor’s Degree and 4,000 hours of verified, paid EMS work experience in the past five years. Degree in directly related field preferred. Minimum of one year demonstrated teaching/training experience (or equivalent as adjunct faculty).
Nationally Registered EMT – Paramedic or State of Colorado EMT – Paramedic Certified required. Experience with wilderness medicine or remote EMS care is a plus. Successful completion of Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) Division of EMS Administration, Instructor Course (or completion of this course within the first month of being in position) required.
