JOB PURPOSE:
The Student Learning Strategies Program and The Resilience Project work to enhance the learning experiences of undergraduate and graduate students at Stanford through academic coaching, workshops, and online resources. These programs assist students with topics such as test-taking, effective study, time management, reading strategies, academic motivation and resilience, and more. The initiatives are within the Office of the Vice Provost for Teaching and Learning.

Administer, implement, and interpret university and department policies and procedures on issues regarding admission, financial aid, housing, registrar services, visa services, student life, advising, career counseling and academic services. Identify, clarify, and resolve highly visible or complex issues with substantial significance and impact that may span multiple areas, using advanced technical and professional knowledge requiring independent judgment.

CORE DUTIES*:
  • Provide individual and workshop-based academic skills coaching to undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Manage weekly blog.
  • Provide outreach and liaise with community centers and other campus partners.
  • Collaborate with internal campus partners to develop tailored workshops and programming.
  • Stay up-to-date on current learning sciences research.
  • Identify academic needs for undergraduates and graduate students and develop programming that meets those areas.
  • Assess and evaluate current programs for their effectiveness and make recommendations.
  • Create marketing materials for academic coaching and The Resilience Project. Co-produce “Stanford, I Screwed Up!” through developing outreach initiatives, recruiting students, working with vendors, and managing volunteers.
  • Hire, train, and manage a cohort of undergraduate and graduate students as peer academic coaching ambassadors that facilitate workshops throughout campus.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):
Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Education, Learning Sciences, or other related field preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong communication skills to clearly and effectively communicate information to internal and external audiences, client groups, and management.
  • Advanced analysis and problem solving skills.
  • Advanced computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Advanced customer service skills.
  • Relevant computer systems/technology experience.
  • Understanding of financial transactions.
  • Ability to ensure and apply compliance with legal, financial, and university policies and external regulations.
Certifications and Licenses:
None

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:
  • Frequently sit, perform desk-based computer tasks.
  • Occasionally stand, walk, twist, use fine manipulation, grasp, use a telephone, write by hand, sort and file paperwork, lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
