Summary of Duties:
We are seeking an individual with teaching ability at undergraduate and graduate levels in selected aspects of sustainable construction as it relates to the construction of heavy civil projects (e.g., green construction, estimating, construction planning and scheduling, and project management). The successful candidate's primary teaching responsibility will be courses is construction engineering with emphasis in sustainable construction; however, the ability to teach general construction management courses is also desirable.
Responsibilities of the position include the following:
  • Teaching construction engineering and/or management topics (including, but not limited to, sustainable construction, estimating, construction planning and scheduling, and project management) per year;
  • Develop a research program demonstrated by publications in professional and/or academic journals;
  • Participation in School committees and student mentoring;
  • Willingness to offer continuing education and short courses to industry and students.

    Required Qualifications:
    • Earned PhD in Civil Engineering with a focus on Construction Management, or Construction Engineering in an accredited professional degree program before the job offer is extended;
    • Expertise and certification in sustainable construction (LEED AP or BREEAM certificate) before the job offer is extended.
    • Ability to conduct research in a defined area of interest;
    • Ability to work in a team environment and to be involved in collaborative projects;
    • Teaching ability at undergraduate and graduate levels in selected aspects of sustainable construction engineering and/or management.
    • Commitment to enhance interaction with and support of the CM Program by the construction industry;
    • Interest and competence of using computers in construction management applications;environment and to be involved in collaborative projects;
    • Teaching ability at undergraduate and graduate levels in selected aspects of sustainable construction engineering and/or management.
    • Commitment to enhance interaction with and support of the CM Program by the construction industry;
    • Interest and competence of using computers in construction management applications;
    • Strong written and oral communication skills.
