Responsibilities: Chesapeake College invites applicants for Director of Skilled Trades Department. This position includes developing and implementing trades-based programs, hiring, evaluating and supervising instructors and program directors, ordering supporting materials, and monitoring budgets. Employee must interact with the community in order to understand the businesses in the College’s service area, be able to determine the training needs of those businesses and develop the courses and programs necessary to respond to those training needs. This is a very diverse position that requires the ability to manage both credit and non-credit courses and programs.

In addition, the Director will advise students in the Skilled Trades programs. Recruit for and market programs, both credit and non-credit. Set up open enrollment classes for continuing education. Work with corporate accounts to set up contract training classes.

Required: Master’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent credential in one of the trades; three (3) to five (5) years managing diverse projects and people. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to manage time, people, and resources. Understanding of community college education in Maryland.
