Summary of Duties:
The Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine (ESFCOM) at Washington State University is embarking on the accreditation and development of a next generation medical school designed to train students to be physician leaders, who innovate, adapt and discover in an ever changing healthcare landscape. The School is now inviting applications for the position of Research Scientist who will join the Biomedical Sciences team in leading the college into the future.
Under the supervisor Associate Professor, Dr. Weihang Chai, the Research Scientist will participate in the development and design of research projects, protocols and experiments in cancer/aging research on maintenance of genome stability using cell, molecular and animal model approaches. Modify and adapt experimental protocols, techniques and procedures to specific project requirements. Design, coordinate and conduct experimental procedures. Construct transgenic mice and perform tumor formation analysis in vivo. Independently perform research activities and data analysis. Work with the Principal Investigator to prepare research results and written summaries of results in manuscript form for publications and in graphics form for presentation at research meetings and for grant proposals. Maintain and ensure compliance with regulatory protocols and records related to biosafety and radiation material safety.
A Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate related scientific or engineering discipline and three (3) years of progressively responsible related professional research experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. A Master’s degree in an appropriate related scientific or engineering discipline may be substituted for up to one year of the required work experience.
