Fire Protection Maintenance Tech
To ensure high quality fire protection services are provided to the College of William & Mary community. Significant overtime work may be required to resolve urgent and emergency repairs.
High School graduate or equivalent is required.
Significant demonstrated experience in repairing and troubleshooting fire protection systems (fire alarm, fire sprinkler, and clean agent fire protection systems).
Knowledge of maintenance issues on various fire alarm, sprinkler systems, and clean agent systems.
Communicate well by verbal and written methods
Experience operating basic word processing and database computer programs to include Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
Have working knowledge of fire alarm systems, specifically Simplex.
Have working knowledge of operations and maintenance for fire sprinkler systems.
Possess a valid drivers license
Be knowledgeable of basic hazardous material response procedures.
Knowledge of maintenance issues on various fire alarm and sprinkler systems.
Have an understanding of NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) and USBC (Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code).
Ability to apply knowledge, training or experience to assess and determine compliance, collect and review data, and determine appropriate course of action.
Use of judgment in meeting regulations/codes, or meeting the intent of the code.
Uses various instruments, methods and processes requiring some analytical skill and judgment.
Be able to apply complex standards to situations and deviation in some cases is justifiable.
Have working knowledge of kitchen and clean agent fire suppression systems.
Specific experience in maintenance of Simplex fire alarm systems.
Knowledge of fire alarm fiber optic network and maintenance of fiber optic.
Certification of Fire Protection System Repair training
Shall have, or have the experience to qualify as a Virginia State Certified Fire Inspector or Fire Protection Systems Inspector.
