The Office of Technology Commercialization and New Ventures (OTCNV) plays a crucial role in this by protecting and promoting University research discoveries and intellectual property, working with and guiding industry partners, and promoting the acceleration of startups. We're driving economic growth by facilitating the commercialization of research discoveries.
Essential Job Duties: The OTCNV is seeking a Licensing Analyst to join its growing team. The Licensing Analyst position is primarily responsible for managing the marketing and invention assessment and scouting activities in support of the Life Sciences licensing team. The Analyst reports to the Director of Licensing. He/she will review new invention disclosures, assist in the development of commercialization strategies, evaluate the need for patent protection, and negotiate contracts with industry including confidentiality agreements, inter-institutional agreements, material transfer agreements and other contractual documents as assigned. The Analyst will also interact with patent counsel, industry partners, and business development professionals. He/she will interact with the Venture Development group within the Office of Technology Commercialization and New Ventures in support of startup company formation.
Minimum Education/Experience: Require post-baccalaureate credentials or bachelor's degree in a science with at least two years of business development or research experience.
Department Required Skills: Candidates must have outstanding writing and communication skills.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: Preferred candidates will have an advanced degree in a biological science and/or a professional degree. Prior experience within a university technology transfer office is helpful, but not required. Exceptional qualifications include professional experience working in academic technology transfer or commercial technology licensing including documented experience in contract negotiation, knowledge of business practices related to intellectual property protection and commercialization, knowledge of University research or research administration, or university-industry research partnerships.
