Duties: The Department of Chemistry at the University of Pennsylvania seeks a Director -Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Laboratory to direct, support and provide expertise. Responsibilities of the Director include daily operation of the NMR facilities, support of the operation and maintenance of all current magnets (ranging from 300 to 800 MHz). Development of long term strategic plans. The position will be expected to advise and make critical decisions on appropriate technology to purchase or adopt and be responsible for training researchers on the use and implementation of the technology. The director will be responsible for the supervision of several supporting scientists in the area of NMR (including, but not limited to post-doc researchers and graduate students). The Director will play a supportive role in the submission of major instrumentation grants and collaborative engagement in cutting edge research. The Director will report to the Executive Director.

Qualifications: PhD in NMR related field, 10 years research experience in academic institution with experience in the operation of NMR spectrometers including small molecule, multinuclear NMR, multidimensional NMR and variable temperature. Expertise with NMR spectrometers including maintenance, cryogen fills, troubleshooting, maintaining detailed records of performance of all instruments.
