Position Summary: The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Department of Genetics, is seeking a board certified Genetic Counselor to join their research program. Join our fantastic clinical, translational research team in idyllic Chapel Hill, NC. This research associate position is based in the School of Medicine, Department of Genetics. This position will play an integral role in our newly National Human Genome Research Institute-funded, 4 year, multi-centered exome sequencing trial as part of the Clinical Sequencing Exploratory Research consortium. Our research team includes medical geneticists, social scientists, health economists, genetic counselors and research coordinators. The goal of this trial is 2 pronged; first, to evaluate the benefit of pre-visit educational material on patient and provider outcomes, with a focus on the underserved and minority populations, and second, to assess the clinical utility of exome sequencing. Responsibilities would include project management and tracking system updates, clinical study integration, participant communications, eligibility screening, consenting, electronic medical record abstraction, participation in telemedicine case reviews and result reporting. This individual will also liaise with coordinators and genetic counselors at other clinical sites. The ideal candidate will have research and project management experience, and should be comfortable working independently, and interacting with participants, clinicians and the research team.

Education Requirements: Relevant post-Baccalaureate (Master's) degree required from an accredited Genetic Counseling program; for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity, will accept a relevant undergraduate degree from an accredited university and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution. Board Certified Genetic Counselor.
Qualification and Experience: The ideal candidate will have research and project management experience, and should be comfortable working independently, and interacting with participants, clinicians and the research team.
