Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine (OUWB) invites applications and nominations for the position of Founding Director of the Population Health Informatics program. This is an exciting opportunity for a population health scientist to participate in the design, implementation, expansion and administration of a new research and education program at an innovative institution. The new program will focus broadly on the vision of advancing improved outcomes, systems of care, and health for individuals and communities, including a commitment to health equity and an understanding of the social, economic and behavioral determinants of health.

From its inception in 2007, OUWB was designed to transform medical education by emphasizing holistic physician development – a “liberal arts medical education” that is grounded in evidence-based medical science. As OUWB continues to flourish as part of the cohort of newer medical schools, it will strategically expand research and graduate education programs. The new Population Health Informatics program is an essential component of this strategy and will serve as a hub for population-based research within OUWB. The Founding Director will lead the Population Health Informatics program from its inception, establishing its operational framework, research agenda, and education programs as well as recruiting new faculty members and engaging current ones.

The successful candidate will have an MD, DO, and/or PhD and academic credentials qualifying for appointment as an associate or full professor in the School of Medicine’s integrated Department of Biomedical Sciences. Program directors in the School of Medicine have a seat on the School of Medicine’s Council of Chairs and Program Directors and therefore have a programmatic reporting relationship to the Dean of the School of Medicine. The Founding Director must possess exceptional communication and collaborative leadership skills and a demonstrated track record of external funding and scholarly publications.
