Digital Projects Manager

Job description

Founded in 1848, Rhodes College is a selective, private, residential, undergraduate college. This person will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive constituent engagement program to encourage involvement and investment in the college with primary focus on digital content. Rhodes College seeks a Digital Projects Manager to assist with faculty projects connected to the "Liberal Arts & Social Justice In the 21st Century" initiative and our ongoing partnership with the National Civil Rights Museum (NCRM). The Digital Projects Manager will provide expertise in the technologies and methods for faculty members and partner staff in supporting digital scholarship and innovative pedagogy. Specific aspects of this work could include support for digital collections, providing technical assistance, and coordinating activities between institutions. The position will contribute to joint professional development of Rhodes College and National Civil Rights Museum staff, and will work in close collaboration with Rhodes's Digital Preservation and Scholarship program. The ideal candidate will work well with both colleagues and community partners and demonstrate an aptitude for being flexible and adaptable on a variety of projects. This is a part-time position.Bachelor's degree required. Must have a minimum of two years of digital projects experience preferably in education or non-profit environment. A background in digital humanities, instructional technology, or related field. Experience managing projects and workflows for processing digitized and born-digital materials. Experience using and supporting digital repositories (such as DSpace, Islandora, Samerva, or ContentDM). Experience in building digital collections and exhibits (such as Omeka). Knowledge of metadata standards and protocols (such as Dublin Core, Open Archives Initiative-Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH), METS, MODS, PREMIS). Familiarity with the command line and scripting languages (e.g. Python, PHP, Perl) preferred. Must have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects. Must be competent in using a PC and the internet as communication tools and proficient with Microsoft Office.
