Job description

Duties: The Research Specialist A will assist in the study of viral infection and immunity using a Drosophila model. The specialist will perform studies manipulating the microbiota of files and determining the impact on viral infection. This involves bacterial culture, fly dissections and molecular biology. Duties also include data analysis and figure production.

In addition to all of the above, the B level will also work with Dr. Cherry performing additional studies on metabolites in viral infections. He/she must be able to identify and resolve technical issues and use analytical and decision making skills to implement assigned projects.

Qualifications: Research Specialist A - Bachelor's Degree and 0 to 1 yr of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Research Specialist B - Bachelor's Degree and 1yr to 3yrs of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
The optimal candidate will also display an eagerness to work as part of a team and to prove intellectual and technical input to their own projects. Highly motivated individuals who can both work independently as well as in a group are invited to apply.
