The University of Texas at Austin Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering (CAEE) invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in computational mechanics. The Department is interested in adding expertise that contributes to the fundamental understanding of material behavior through computational modeling, with an emphasis on applications relevant to civil, architectural, and environmental engineering. Examples of desirable expertise include, without being limited to: (i) multiscale modeling of material behavior that bridges spatial scales from the atomic/molecular/granular to the design/macro scale; (ii) modeling of complex multi-physics and chemical material processes; and (iii) the design and development of new materials to, for example, meet prescribed performance, arrest or delay deterioration, and prevent failure or promote healing. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in mechanics, materials and structural engineering, develop a sustainable sponsored research program, supervise graduate students, collaborate with other faculty, and be involved in service to the university and the profession.

Applicants must have an earned Ph. D. degree in civil engineering, materials engineering, materials science, or equivalent.
