The Department of Engineering (http://www.rmu.edu/sems) seeks applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant/Associate Professor level. Qualified candidates are sought in Mechanical Engineering, with teaching and research interests in the Thermo-Fluids area including Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, and Fluid Mechanics.
Faculty members are expected to support the Energy and Sustainability minor by teaching some of the courses listed in the minor including Energy Fundamentals and Sustainability, Renewable Resources, Alternative and Conventional Energy Technologies, and Energy Conversion, Storage, and Transportation. Excellent experimental abilities are necessary for this position, along with appropriate analytical and computational skills.
Candidates are expected to pursue a program of research in their fields of expertise, seek funded research, publish in peer-reviewed journals, and display a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching in an experiential educational program. The successful candidate will have also demonstrated significant oral and written communication skills necessary for interdisciplinary collaboration with colleagues in Engineering, Mathematics and Science.

An earned Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline is required; industrial experience and a proven research record is preferred.
