Assistant Professor of the Practice, Field Faculty

Job description

Applications are invited for an Assistant Professor of the Practice for the Field Program at the Graduate School of Social Work (GSSW) at the University of Denver. GSSW is a top 20 school of social work in the United States. The school has four MSW degree programs and a doctor of philosophy in social work degree. The masters programs span residential campuses in Denver, Durango, and Glenwood Springs and a new national online program, [email protected] in partnership with 2U, Inc.

This faculty is critical to the school's field team operation and success ensuring the school's brand as it continues to graduate excellent professionals from all four programs. The Assistant Professor of the Practice will participate in and help lead all aspects of the field program including field agency development, placement, liaision supervision, training, implementation of field policies and student placement concerns. This position is expected to utilize new and evolving techniques and technology to carry out their responsibilities.

This position will work across all GSSW programs, with primary assignment in the Denver Campus or [email protected] program. This position is supervised by the Assistant Dean for Field Education and Community Partnerships, in conjunction with the Associate Directors of Field Education. Specific job responsibilities will be determined according to shifting field program needs and faculty and staff areas of expertise. This position will work primarily from the Denver Campus offices in GSSW.

Required Qualifications

  • Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from a Council of Social Work Education (CSWE)- accredited institution
  • 5 years of relevant post-MSW practice experience
  • 2 years of experience as a field instructor or field liaison

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with progam management and/or administration
  • 2 years of direct supervisory experience.
