The Robert B. Greenblatt, M.D. Library of Augusta University invites applications for the position of Scholarship and Data Librarian, a non-tenure track faculty position with an appointment as Assistant Professor.  The primary focus will be to grow a dynamic program to support scholarship for the health sciences campus. 


Reporting to the Chair of Content Management, the Scholarship and Data Librarian will be responsible for planning, implementing, and leading outreach activities promoting the institutional repository and other scholarly communication initiatives to include issues related to intellectual property and open access of scholarly output at the University.   This position will also provide a data management plan consultation service, research impact reports and participate in grant support for research faculty.  The successful candidate will provide best practice standards in maintaining the University’s electronic theses and dissertations and coordinate efforts for new open access publications on campus. 

Intra-Institutional Responsibilities:

The Scholarship and Data Librarian will serve as liaison for a health sciences college and will serve on library and institutional committees as a faculty member. 

Extra-Institutional Responsibilities:

The Scholarship and Data Librarian is expected to be active professional in local, regional, and national associations and will contribute to the professional literature. 

Salary and Benefits

This position has faculty rank and status (non-tenure track). Benefits include a competitive health package, Teachers’ Retirement System, and other retirement options. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Minimum Requirements  


  • Master’s degree in library science from an American Library Association-accredited program
  • Minimum of 2 years professional post-MLS experience or library equivalent experience 


  • Familiar with current trends and emerging issues in scholarly communications
  • Knowledge of current metadata schemas, standards, and institutional repository platforms such as Dublin Core, METS, DOI, ORCID, and DSpace.
  • Familiar with data management issues such as organization standards, funding agencies requirements, and preservation
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as plan, coordinate, and implement programs in a timely matter
  • Knowledge of relevant intellectual property and publication issues
  • Evidence of ability to meet university standards in librarianship, teaching, publication and research, and service
