This position is the first point of contact between the Public Safety department, the rest of the NWTC campus and the general public. As the receptionist in the Public Safety Department, you will provide customer service to our students, faculty and other customers and direct inquiries to the appropriate staff. Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with customers in all forms of communication are vital. This position collaborates with the office support and administrative staff to complete daily office tasks, assist faculty and provide a high level of customer service to our students and the general public.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
  • Greet internal and external customers, in person, via phone or email and provide accurate information and direction.
  • Assist with confidential student records that include Department of Motor Vehicle records and Department of Justice mandated state forms to ensure accuracy for driving records/licensures and certification purposes while following state guidelines and staying current with upcoming changes.
  • Scan student files, update mailing databases and spreadsheets, prepare weekly class monitor report, enter accurate student data such as enrollments for upcoming classes, monitor Learner Feedback Forms in Blackboard, maintain book requests and prepare materials for upcoming meetings.
  • Collaborate and coordinate needs with other departments of the college.
  • Serve in a cross-functional capacity to assist each administrative assistant with Public Safety.
  • Coordinate and communicate with all other office staff to ensure in constant sharing of information and quality of service to customers.
  • Assist faculty/staff and students with the scheduling of available rooms through R25 in the Public Safety classrooms when conflicts arise.
  • Coordinate the ordering and maintain the inventory of supplies including while insuring adherence to budget guidelines. Organize, clean and restock all classroom and general office spaces.
  • All other duties and projects as assigned.

Education: Administrative Assistant or Office Assistant degree if preferred
Experience: Minimum of 1 year working in an office environment or proven customer service experience
**An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered

Computer Skills:
Proficient with Microsoft Office Word and Excel
Comfortable with Outlook calendars, tasks and basic email function
