Required Qualifications:
Provide general information related to course and program offerings of the unit to current and prospective students.

Manage internal and external workflows for student records and faculty and student communications.

Facilitate appropriate advising for students through referrals to academic advisors or direct advising where appropriate.

Maintain knowledge of current research and benchmarking related to student support services with emphasis on student retention and success.

Participate in outreach activities of the unit including the development, design, and delivery of both formal and informal presentations related to student support and success

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree

Experience in Higher Education particularly in student support services.

Demonstrated experience with Banner, (student information systems).

Experience using and creating spreadsheets for manipulating numerical and non-numerical data.

Demonstrated experience in HTML and web content development

Job Description:
The Student Development Specialist II will focus on student support for courses and programs offered by ODEL and will be devoted to student retention and success efforts in distance learning programs offered by Texas State.

Job Duties:
Responsible for guiding students to success in programs and courses offered by the unit and partner academic units by facilitating and directly providing student support services including course registration, payment and general financial assistance guidance, point-of-contact services for technical and logistical support, and acting as a faculty-student liaison when appropriate
