Assistant Professor Exercise Science
The Department of Health, Exercise and Sport Science at The Citadel (the Military College of South Carolina is seeking applications for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor that begins August 2018. The Citadel, the School of Science and Mathematics, and the Department of Health, Exercise and Sport Science are committed to excellence in teaching; in addition, professional activity in scholarship/research and service is also expected. Teaching responsibilities at undergraduate (B.S.) and graduate (M.S.) levels may include research methods, preventive and rehabilitative aspects of physical activity, biomechanics, muscular strength and conditioning, motor learning and motor development, and other areas of exercise science. The position would have opportunity to teach undergraduate and graduate students within the degrees of exercise science and physical education. The typical teaching load is 12 credit hours each semester. Research opportunities within and beyond a well-equipped laboratory are possible through The Citadel Foundation and/or extramural funding sources.
Applicants must have completed a terminal degree by time of appointment in the area of exercise science or related area such as physical education.
Service expectations include advising and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, supervising graduate assistants, and participation on departmental and college committee assignments.
