Job Summary

The Painter is responsible for the satisfactory performance of light and heavy manual laboring tasks in wide variety of painting related maintenance work throughout the buildings, and sites. Tasks assigned are routine and repetitive in nature without difficulty and under general supervision.

Duties & Responsibilities

•Cleans up worksite, loads and unloads materials from motor vehicles
•Assists in the routine maintenance of buildings and equipment, and the removal of heavy and large bulky objects as needed
•Follows instructions, which include standard practices and procedures, established operating and safety rules and regulations to operate equipment
•Paints walls, ceilings or fixtures of buildings and patches or replaces plaster and masonry
•Operates power washers and other related equipment to clean surfaces and building and prepare surfaces for painting
•Stands watch on machinery and equipment
•Acts as a helper in other trades area when not painting or pressure cleaning
•Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

•High School Diploma or the G.E.D. equivalent from a regionally accredited institution and one (1) month of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
•Possess a valid Florida Driver's License
•Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
•Working knowledge of surface preparation, color and paint selection, understanding the different paint textures and material purchases
•Familiarity with painting standards
•Comprehensive knowledge of trade tools and of occupational hazards, safety precautions, local codes and regulations pertaining to the trade
•Ability to communicate effectively in verbal or written form
•Skill in the use and care of equipment and tools used to perform assignments
•Ability to use electronic mail, web based trouble report systems and PDA based C.M.M.S software
•Ability to travel and work on all campuses
•Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evening and weekend assignments as needed
•Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
