Duties: The School of Veterinary Medicine seeks an Instructional Designer to join its initiative to develop new academic programs for students and professionals interested in advancing their training in veterinary sciences and practice. Serving as a key resource for faculty, the Instructional Designer will guide efforts to design, deploy, and assess innovative online and blended courses for both internal and external audiences.
Reporting directly to the Director of One Health Research Education, the Instructional Designer will also work both independently and collaboratively with Penn Vet information and educational technologists, as well as the Penn online learning community and external vendors to develop courses of high quality that meet accessibility standards. The Instructional Designer will also be responsible for coordinating faculty efforts with contracted videographers and graphic designers and ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree and 3 years to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
An ideal candidate will have excellent project management and people skills, experience with Learning Management Systems and other online teaching technologies, the ability to apply online pedagogy and evidence-based teaching strategies to online course design and development, experience working with faculty in higher education, a willingness to continually evaluate, adapt, and adopt new technologies, knowledge of accessibility and copyright compliance for online courses, and a passion for making positive impacts on learners worldwide through online education. A well-developed aesthetic sense, enthusiasm and energy are desirable. Experience managing higher education administrative and/or curricular projects would be viewed favorably.
