Posting Information: Western Carolina University seeks an experienced clinical or school psychology faculty member to serve as the first Director of our new Psy.D. program in Health Service Psychology (combined clinical/school psychology) to begin employment by August 1, 2018 (or sooner). This is a full-time, tenure-track, 10-months position. Rank is open, and we anticipate that the successful candidate would be eligible for the rank of Associate or Full Professor upon hiring. As noted above, the Psy.D. program is a combined professional program including clinical and school psychology, and the Director could be trained in either specialty. The new doctoral program will add 3 years (including the predoctoral internship year) to the existing 2-year M.A. clinical program or to the first 2 years of the school psychology specialist program. The Department of Psychology currently has 21 faculty, with 4 in clinical psychology, 4 in school psychology, and a clinic director with graduate specialization in both areas. As noted above, the Psy.D. program is a combined professional program including clinical and school psychology, and the Director could be trained in either specialty. The new doctoral program will add 3 years (including the predoctoral internship year) to the existing 2-year M.A. clinical program or to the first 2 years of the school psychology specialist program. The department has approximately 500 undergraduate psychology majors and a 3-year NASP-accredited Specialist degree in School Psychology.

Minimum Training & Experience Requirements: PhD from an APA-accredited program in clinical or school psychology, at least 5 years of experience in an academic setting, and direct experience with a successful APA program accreditation process for which the candidate had at least some level of formal responsibility.

Preferred Qualifications: Program or department level administrative experience. Comfort in teaching and supervising within a practitioner-scientist model graduate program with a cognitive-behavioral orientation, emphasizing empirically validated methods of assessment and intervention.
