About the Unit
The Section of Hematology/Oncology has a proud and long tradition of excellence in research-based patient care and clinical discovery. Ranked among the finest cancer programs in the country, the Section is comprised of nationally and internationally known faculty with expertise in all major types of malignancies, blood disorders, and experimental therapies.
The Research Technologist will perform research related to cancer immunology and computational biology. In particular bioinformatic analysis of RNAseq and Nanostring datasets, as well as exome, and novel high-throughput datasets e.g. single cell RNAseq and Cytof. We profile high-value annotated patient and experimental samples. The position requires the ability to perform tasks independently and with minimal to modest supervision, although faculty support and guidance will be provided regularly several times a month. Furthermore, being part of a larger bioinformatics group, and interaction with immunologist will help advancing skills. Collaborations with other laboratories and investigators within the Section and Department and University (computational biology, immunology, pathology) are routine. Access to computing resources will be provided.
- Performing computational analysis of RNAseq and Nanostring expression data using R or related methods e.g. signature development, GSEA, pathway analysis.
- Exome data analysis, mutation calling, CNV assessment, mutational load.
- Generating figures in R and related programs for publication.
- Development of novel tools for single cell RNAseq and Cytof single cell analysis.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills are essential.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Molecular Genetics, Cell Biology, Medical Technology, Biochemistry or related discipline required.
- One year of relevant research experience preferred.
- Previous experience with molecular biology techniques is a plus, but not mandatory.
- Immunology background is optional, and can be acquired here, focus is primarily on computational/genomics knowledge.
