About the Unit
The Pritzker School of Medicine is one of few medical schools to be located physically on its University campus, offering both intellectual and social advantages to students who spend their medical school years within a vibrant, multidisciplinary intellectual community. Most importantly the opportunity for collaborative research and study is outstanding: all divisions of the University and its professional schools are located within steps of the hospital, as are the extensive biological and physical sciences research laboratories, thus providing a rich array of opportunities for our medical students.
- The Learning Technology Specialist will directly support the technology requirements of day-to-day teaching in Pritzker, working closely with faculty and administrators to integrate and support the use of digital tools, including acting in a technical support capacity.
- Provide assistance and troubleshooting for a wide variety of technologies and tasks, including multimedia, desktop, and media classroom support, responding quickly as issues develop. Learn, monitor, and maintain specialized resources and applications in support of learning technology including systems for recording lectures, manage course schedules, and catalog technological education resources.
- Provide technical support for monthly online clerkship examinations. Assist students with laptop configuration and troubleshoot a variety of capability challenges as they occur.
- Provide technical support (iPad Minis for all students) for curricular change project which was funded by the American Medical Association called VISTA (Value, Improvement, Safety, and Team Advocates).
- Investigate innovative uses of technology in teaching and learning and promote the use of specialized applications, equipment, and services. Develops resources and services, including tailored training programs, documentation, online reference materials, learning modules, and seminars ranging from basic online course management skills to the advanced application
of technology in teaching. Collaborate with similarly-positioned staff on campus within the Information Technology Services (ITS) and peer institutions. - Periodic communication with useful ITS, BSD and UCH groups to keep up to date with the introduction of, or changes to, services, features or policies.
- Maintain curricular information on University's Learning Management System (currently using Canvas). Will work directly with course and clerkship directors each quarter and on an on-going basis. Facilitate coordination with educational systems not directly managing, to ensure cohesion throughout the portfolio of systems used by the medical school.

Education, Experience and Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Two years of experience in higher education learning technology support or computer support, along with troubleshooting on Mac and Windows platforms required.
Licenses and Certifications:
Technical Knowledge or Skills:
- Experience with learning management systems, content management systems and digital media required.
- Experience with lecture capture software preferred. Experience in supporting faculty in an academic medical center strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of user, technical, and system support for both Macintosh and Windows operating systems required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and other common software programs.
