Description
The Departments of Neurology and Pediatrics of the Dell Medical School (DMS) at The University of Texas at Austin, along with Dell Children's Medical Group (DCMG), and in conjunction with Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas (DCMCCT), are seeking a full-time Board Eligible/Board Certified academic pediatric neurologist with expertise in the diagnosis and care of patients with epilepsy.

This faculty position is designed to serve the growing inpatient and outpatient needs of the pediatric population of central Texas and to develop educational and investigative efforts into pediatric epilepsy. It entails a faculty appointment at DMS on the clinician-educator or physician-scientist tracks, with opportunities for teaching and supervision of medical students and residents and for establishing a basic, applied, translational, or clinical research program. Research laboratory space is available if needed next to the DCMCCT at the Dell Pediatric Research Institute or at DMS.

DMS, the first new medical school to be built at a tier one research university in nearly 50 years, welcomed its inaugural class in 2016. The school is committed to redesigning academic medicine and revolutionizing how people get and stay healthy, by educating leaders, developing new models of care, and advancing innovation from health products to health care delivery. It is now home to the Mulva Clinic for the Neurosciences, established by a $50 million gift from the Mulva Family Foundation, and part of a collaborative scientific community of departments, centers, and institutes on the adjacent University of Texas campus.

DCMCCT, a member of the Seton Healthcare Family, is a 248-bed children's hospital serving 46 counties. It is the only free-standing pediatric facility in the region and is a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center, Level 4 Epilepsy Center, and Level 4 Neonatal ICU. The epilepsy program has experienced exponential growth over the last several years and provides all aspects of medical, surgical, and dietary care, incorporating VEEG/EMU, SPECT, PET, fMRI, MEG, and TMS.

Austin, the capital of Texas and 11th most populous city in the United States, is universally recognized as a vibrant, entrepreneurial, and socially conscious city. Its live music scene, international festivals such as South by Southwest (SXSW), and outdoor amenities have made it among the fastest growing large cities in the nation. In 2017, Austin was ranked the #1 best place to live in the country by U.S. News & World Report.
