Job Summary:

The Initiative on Islam & Medicine at the University of Chicago is hiring a research professional to work on a variety of projects spanning community-engaged, bioethics, health services, and educational research under the direction of Dr. Aasim I. Padela, MD, MSc.

Responsibilities:
  • The Temporary Research Specialist will assist in the implementation, analyses, and manuscript preparation for a community-engaged, religiously-tailored intervention that aims to increase knowledge on living organ donation among Muslims.
  • The candidate will participate in the development of a learning institute in which community leaders will gain skills in patient-centered outcomes research and community-based participatory research.


Competencies:
  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative analyses (regression modeling), survey methods, and project evaluation.
  • Exceptional time-management and organizational skills evidenced by prior project coordination and project management experiences and/or community organizing activities.
  • Superb written and oral communication skills evidenced through prior manuscript preparation or thesis writing and experience in working with multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Advanced studies in religious ethics or Islamic ethics and law preferred.


Additional Requirements

Education and Experience:
  • Master's degree in a field relevant to the research being conducted required.
  • One year of relevant research experience preferred.
