Director - UCCU Events Center

Position Category: Staff - Full-Time

The Director of UCCU Events Center is responsible for promoting and supervising the booking, planning, coordination and execution of all external and internal groups renting facility space at the UCCU Events Center, the UCCU Ballpark, and the Lockhart Arena, including overseeing all required event services, facilities use, and arrangements for scheduled conferences, meetings, seminars, and summer group bookings. This position is responsible for ensuring excellent customer service to clients through managing the details of these events including room reservations, lodging, event set-up, staffing, AVL needs, and catering.

Facilitates collaboration with each event to establish event timelines, facility space/venue and logistical details. Ensure successful event operation execution including in-house and contracted services/equipment. Communicates with internal stakeholders at all levels of the institution in order to ensure the delivery of successful conferences and events for the University including meeting annual revenue goals. Prepares the annual budget and financial projections for the Event Center. Oversees the monitoring of insurance, rules and guidelines, contracts, and payments for all internal, external, and summer groups.

Required Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline plus three years of staff level experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling seven years.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Conference and event/facility scheduling, event program/operation, and/or event planning and management experience.
  • Experience with strategic planning and working with area/department planning preferred.
  • Experience working with developing, monitoring and implementing budgeting preferred.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to maintaining a safe work environment free of harassment, violence, and unlawful discrimination.
  • Computer/software skills.
  • The ability quickly learn web content interface and other University software programs.
  • Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, get along well with co-workers, and work effectively and professionally with colleagues.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience managing university facilities preferred.
  • Experience with strategic planning and working with area/department planning preferred.
  • Experience working with developing, monitoring and implementing budgeting preferred.

Physical Requirements:
Frequent movements involving bending, reaching, sitting, walking, twisting, with frequent fine-hand manipulation in the use of a keyboard/computer. This position requires continuously seeing, hearing, and speaking. Expectation of occasionally working in confined or crowded areas.

Benefits PT:
You may be eligible for a 3 credit hour or 1 class tuition waiver after 6 consecutive months of employment and a minimum of 475 hours worked. Dependents do not qualify for a waiver.

FLSA: Exempt

Pay Range: $55,384 to $73,846
