The School of Accountancy in the College of Business invites nominations and applications for two Assistant Professor of Accounting positions. Both positions are located on the Statesboro campus.

In January 2017, the University System of Georgia Board of Regents voted to consolidate Armstrong State University and Georgia Southern University. The new, 27,000-student university is named Georgia Southern University with campuses in Savannah, Statesboro, and Hinesville. The expected timeline for the first entering class will be fall 2018. The School of Accountancy at Georgia Southern University is committed to providing quality educational programs. The School, which is fully accredited by AACSB International, enrolls more than 600 students in its undergraduate and graduate degree programs and employs 22 full-time accounting and legal studies faculty members.

The mission of the School of Accountancy is to provide excellence in accounting education through teaching, research, and service. We recognize our responsibility to provide high-quality undergraduate and graduate accounting education, to conduct applied and instructional research benefitting accounting and business, and to render service to each of our constituencies. In addition to its traditional programs, the School created innovative certificate programs in fraud examination, forensic accounting, and taxation. The School offers the Master of Accounting degree in two formats: traditional and online. Faculty members are expected to contribute to the School through academic research, professional outreach, and be active participants in the achievement of the School's mission. Faculty should also be willing to interact with students through activities outside the classroom.

Position Description. Reporting to the Director of the School of Accountancy, the positions require research, teaching and service responsibilities as well as a terminal degree. The ability to contribute to a positive collegial work environment in the School, College, and University is also expected. The positions are 9-month, tenure-track appointment, beginning August 1, 2018, and the salaries are competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications:
• PhD or DBA in accounting, or a closely related field, from an AACSB or EQUIS accredited institution by August 1, 2018.
• Evidence of the ability to develop, execute and maintain a strong research agenda.
• Evidence of the potential for above average teaching ability.
• Evidence of effective communication skills.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States for the duration of employment without assistance from the institution.

Preferred Qualifications:

• All areas of teaching and research specialization considered, although the ability to teach in one or more areas including: accounting information systems, auditing, information technology auditing, taxation, and/or data analytics preferred
• Experience in online course delivery and flipped classroom models
• Professional certification (e.g. CPA, CFE, and CMA)
• Related professional experience
• Experience working with a diverse student body
