With over $14 million in annual research funding, the Okanagan campus is establishing itself as an important and respected centre of learning and research and as a driver of economic and social development in the Interior of BC.
Based in Kelowna, and reporting to the Deputy Vice Chancellor & Principal, the Provost will serve as a key member of the leadership team at the Okanagan campus and as a member of the UBC system executive team with the President and Vice Presidents. The Provost will provide leadership for a diverse group of Faculties, including Engineering, Education, Creative and Critical Studies, Arts & Sciences, Management, Health and Social Development, Graduate Studies, and Medicine. The Provost also provides leadership to several other critical units, including the Library, Centre for Teaching and Learning, Planning and Institutional Research, Enrolment Services and Internationalization. The ideal candidate is an accomplished academic with leadership experience gained as a Dean, AVP or Vice President at a research-intensive university. The Provost will encourage interdisciplinary approaches, support academic excellence, and promote originality in research, scholarship and teaching. The Provost will build an enhanced student experience and will attract, retain and support innovative and productive faculty members. The Provost will be eligible to be appointed as a full professor at the University of British Columbia.
