Job description

Duties: The Research Specialist C will assist in the study of viral infection and immunity using a Drosophila model. The Research Specialist C will perform studies manipulating the microbiota of flies and determining the impact on viral infection. This involves bacterial culture, fly dissections and molecular biology. Duties also include data analysis and figure production.

In addition to all of the above, the Research Specialist C will also work with Dr. Cherry to perform additional studies on metabolites in viral infections. He/she must be able to identify and resolve technical issues and use analytical and decision making skills to implement assigned projects. Dr. Cherry's laboratory is in an academic setting at the University of Pennsylvania, Perelman School of Medicine, Philadelphia.

Position is contingent on continued funding.

Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

The optimal candidate would also display an eagerness to work as part of a team and to prove both intellectual and technical input to their own projects. Highly motivated individuals who can both work independently as well as in a group are invited to apply.
