Position Information: The Director of the Office of Assessment and Evaluation (OAE) at the University of California, Riverside School of Medicine (UCR-SOM) is responsible for the overall management of OAE and collaborative leadership with the Associate Dean for the OAE. OAE supports development, implementation, analysis, and reporting activities related to the assessment of learners, the evaluation of programs, and quality improvement efforts for all UCR-SOM educational programs, including those in Pipeline Programs, Biomedical Sciences, Undergraduate Medical Education (UME), Graduate Medical Education (GME), and Continuing Medical Education (CME). OAE provides similar services to other UCR-SOM entities that support education, such as the Quality Improvement Operations Services Center (QI-OSC), the Simulation Center, Interprofessional Education (IPE), and the Center for Teaching Excellence. As these activities often overlap with scholarly endeavors, OAE also provides consultation and assistance in research project design, statistical analysis, and manuscript preparation. The OAE also provides comprehensive data support to additional UCR-SOM units: Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, and Clinical Affairs. In collaboration with the Associate Dean for OAE, the Director is responsible for establishing and maintaining strong partnerships with faculty members, program administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure that assessment and evaluation activities align with learner needs, program goals, accreditation standards, and evidence-based best practices.

Minimum Requirements: Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Able to provide good judgment, decision-making, and problem solving.
Able to work with people from diverse backgrounds and socioeconomic groups.
Understanding of organizational rules and regulations.
Requires general knowledge in data collection and analysis techniques; statistics or social science research techniques; knowledge of common organization-specific computer application programs; knowledge of organizational principles and procedures involved in handling sensitive data (for example, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, or FERPA).
Familiar with quantitative and qualitative research methodology. Knowledge of common statistical software packages for both qualitative and quantitative research.
Excellent organizational and record keeping skills.
Knowledge of the primary, secondary and post secondary educational systems.
Advanced expertise with PC based applications, such as Microsoft Excel, Word and Access, in a Windows environment. Demonstrated ability to access and retrieve information from databases using PC based front-end tools.
Able to work effectively independently, as well as in a collaborative team environment.
Strong ability to present information in a clear concise manner both in writing and verbally.
Thorough active listening, critical thinking, good interpersonal skills and ability to multi-task.

Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of UC policies and procedures.

Ability to speak Spanish.

Knowledge of the assessment standards of LCME, ACGME and other accrediting bodies.

Working knowledge of New Innovations, Qualtrics, B-Line and ExamSoft.

Knowledge of classical test theory, item response theory, Rasch modeling and generalizability theory/G studies.
