Position Information: Reporting to the Executive Director of Dining, Hospitality & Retail Services, the Marketing and Strategic Communications Manager will support the department with branding, marketing strategies and initiatives, and communication services. Serves as the focal point and liaison between Dining Services staff for all branding, marketing and communication needs. Executes department requests as they relate to web, print media, digital signage, video and social media; collaborates with Campus Business Support Services and campus Marketing. Supports a range of marketing and communication activities including campaign communications, targeted marketing programs, event advertising, campus promotional materials, direct marketing campaigns, website organization, content development, and support for video and photography. Coordinates and supports a department-wide integrated marketing program, including branding and identity, market research, and strategic message development. Note: the reporting structure for this position may change after the incumbent is hired; from the Executive Director to the Sr. Director of Dining Services. **Applicants selected for an interview will be required to: (1) submit samples of their work/portfolios for review, and (2) complete pre-employment assessments as part of the interview and selection process.**
Minimum Requirements: Solid skills to create, develop, and implement comprehensive long and short term strategic communications plans.
Knowledge of all aspects of communications, including strategic planning for various media venues, technical aspects and requirements of various venues, and most appropriate and effective applications.
Knowledge and understanding of technical applications to effectively direct technical staff, or personally perform technical work, including design concepts, various media, and applications.
Solid written, verbal, interpersonal communications, active listening and political acumen skills.
Knowledge and skills to advise and consult with management to ensure delivery of the desired message to target and/or broad general audiences.
Strong project management skills, excellent time management, strong attention to detail, and results driven.
Advanced level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite.
Excellent communication skills in oral, written, and presentation format.
General knowledge of marketing and advertising principles and concepts.
Ability to develop and maintain a variety of knowledge of the latest software applications and various computer platforms for effective communication and marketing plans.
Ability to organize, independently prioritize, and manage a wide variety of responsibilities and projects.
Ability to establish and maintain exceptional client relations and partnerships. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations, internal and external constituents and agencies.
Ability to coordinate work, projects and services with multiple departmental managers/staff, campus partners and/or external entities.
Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of location protocols and channels for communication internally and externally.
Knowledge of the organization, its achievements, mission, vision, goals, policies, practices, infrastructure, and a strong knowledge of current affairs, and issues in higher education and/or health sciences.
Ability to perform studies and analyses from guest feedback/data through surveys and other mechanisms to identify gaps in marketing, communication, and/or information; and ability to develop effective strategies to address guest feedback in a long-term marketing/communication plan.
