Job description

Duties: Provide strategic leadership for Career Services, the centralized career center serving all Penn undergraduates, graduate and professional students in nine schools, alumni of these degree programs, and Penn post docs. Manage a staff of over 30 knowledgeable and committed professionals who help Penn students define their goals and build meaningful and rewarding careers. Ensure high-level, comprehensive and innovative career development programming. Serve as the face of Career Services on campus, and forge partnerships with Penn colleagues to enhance services to a diverse student body. Represent Career Services and Penn externally. Consult with employers to encourage and improve their recruiting efforts and strategies. Build productive relationships with external partners to improve services and increase opportunities for students and alumni. Represent the University at corporate and civic events and at professional meetings.

Qualifications: A Master's Degree or more and 7 years to 10 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Career Center management experience strongly preferred. Supervisory experience required, as is familiarity with budget planning, particularly in a RSM environment. Strong organizational, program planning and assessment skills. Demonstrated knowledge of careers and career fields, and sophisticated understanding of employment trends and the issues that will affect the working lives of today's students required. Sensitivity to the needs and concerns of a diverse student body of undergraduate and graduate students. Knowledge of best practices in career development and employer relations. Outstanding writing and presentation skills. Experience using statistics and data to inform programming and services. Understanding and appreciation of growing role technology and social media play in delivery of career services. Demonstrated public relations/marketing abilities. Innovative and open to new ideas. Effective multi-tasker, able to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
