Position:                                  Artist/Teacher of Tuba – a tenure track position

                                                Department of Music, Oklahoma State University

                                                Stillwater, Oklahoma


Responsibilities:                      Recruit and retain undergraduate and graduate tuba and euphonium students and teach courses in applied tuba/euphonium, low brass methods, tuba/euphonium ensembles, brass chamber music, tuba/euphonium pedagogy and tuba/euphonium literature.  Additional responsibilities will be based on the successful candidate’s expertise, but preference may be given to those candidates with music education, theory or jazz experience. In addition to instruction, all music faculty are expected to be productive as scholars/artists and to engage in departmental, university, and professional service.




Qualifications:                        Master’s Degree required. Doctorate degree preferred.  Candidates without doctorate must document equivalent experience and expertise, including evidence of significant performance and teaching experience.  Preference given to applicants with a record of successful recruiting.




Rank and Salary:                    Assistant Professor (tenure track). Salary commensurate with qualifications contingent upon funding availability

Oklahoma State University:    The University, with approximately 23,000 students at its main campus in Stillwater, is located approximately 65 miles from Tulsa and Oklahoma City.  The Music Department has thirty-two full-time and seven part-time faculty members and is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music.  The Department offers the degrees of Master of Music in Pedagogy and Performance; Bachelor of Music (with options in music education, performance, or business); and Bachelor of Arts.
