I. Summary of Position
The Associate Director for the Leland Scholars program works directly under the supervision of the Director of Residential Programs. They are responsible for directing a residential program that helps incoming freshmen from under-resourced high schools to thrive at Stanford and to promote their academic success. In collaboration with colleagues and campus partners, the Associate Director provides participants with mentoring, academic advice and support.

II. Core Duties
o Develops and works with an advisory board for the program that includes faculty, students, parents, and other campus stakeholders
o May teach and/or assist in the teaching and collaborates with associated faculty and staff to develop all curricular and co-curricular components throughout the four week program including coursework, study hours, trips, excursion, and enrichment activities
o Establish and develop continued program support for all LSP cohorts beyond the summer including first year seminars, career guidance, academic advising, mentorship, retreats, cohort events, and community building
o Forges connections with the Stanford community at large (e.g. Community Centers, Residential Education, Student Activities and Leadership, Stanford Summer Engineering Academy) to gather input, share best practices, and help lead campus-wide conversations about how to ensure that LSP students thrive at Stanford
o Supervises a full-time LSP Program Administrator and oversees the temporary/fixed term work of student staff, graduate student, and teaching staff.
o Stays actively engaged in a mentoring relationship with program participants throughout their years at Stanford, and beyond; works with academic advising directors, residence deans, and other key advisors to support student success
o Monitor expenses, budgets, and finances of the program

III. Qualifications

o Bachelor's degree and three or more years of relevant experience or combination of education, training and relevant experience. Advanced degree preferred
o Excellent skills in program administration
o Excellent oral, written and analytical skills exhibiting fluency in area of specialization
o Ability to oversee and provide basic direction to staff
o Ability to oversee and manage program budget
