Dean of the School of Arts and Humanities
Founded in 1920, Indiana Wesleyan University is an evangelical Christian comprehensive university of The Wesleyan Church. IWU is the largest school in the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities (CCCU) with over 3,000 residential students on the main Marion, Indiana, campus and over 12,000 adult learners at regional sites throughout Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, and online.
The School of Arts and Humanities is housed in IWU’s College of Arts and Sciences on the residential campus in Marion, Indiana. The School houses the Divisions of Art + Design, Communication and Theatre, Modern Language and Literature, and Music.
Earned Doctorate in a discipline within the School of Arts and Humanities
Serve as strategic academic leader of the School of Arts and Humanities by providing leadership for the faculty in terms of program development, accreditation self-study, curriculum, administration, teaching, scholarship, and service. The Dean will coordinate School of Arts and Humanities initiatives with leaders of other IWU academic and operational units to achieve the University’s mission.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provide direct oversight for all academic and administrative matters concerning the development of School of Arts and Humanities programs
2. Lead the faculty in strategic planning and monitor the process to further the School’s mission in teaching, scholarship, and service
3. Supervise the process of seeking, achieving, and maintaining all necessary program accreditation
4. Ensure that the faculty is involved with professional development and other scholarly activity
5. Provide leadership in grant writing and other fundraising support for school programs
6. Teaching within the School of Arts and Humanities as needed
Demonstrates a mature personal faith in Jesus Christ and supports the theological and lifestyle commitments of The Wesleyan Church
Capable of exercising mature spiritual and professional leadership in all aspects of the development and administration of the School of Arts and Humanities
Two years of relevant administrative experience preferred
Evidence of excellent teaching, service, and scholarly attainment
