Position Summary

Under the general direction of the Vice President of Instruction, the Associate Vice President of Instruction and Learning Resources provides administrative leadership in the planning, organization, and evaluation of the instructional programs and services of the college.


Assignment Responsibilities

Typical duties may include, but are not limited to:

● Providing leadership of continued evaluation and improvement of assigned instructional programs.

● Supervising three or more designated area deans who are responsible for specific instructional areas.

● Coordinating the personnel selection process, including developing and reviewing selection criteria, recruiting, screening, interviewing, and recommending hires within area of responsibility.

● Coordinating the scheduling of curriculum offerings and the monitoring of instructor assignments.

● Preparing instructional related program, facilities, personnel, financial, descriptive, and analytical reports.

● Assisting in the coordination of instructional personnel policies and procedures of the college and district.

● Serving on local, district, and state committees as assigned by the Vice President of Instruction or College President.

● Aiding in the interpretation of college programs and services to the general public.

● Using technology to organize, categorize, and coordinate instructional data and reports.

● Participating as a management team member in general activities related to personnel, support, facilities, and funding of instructional programs.

● Providing leadership and management support for a variety of college-wide instructional areas.

● Managing grants and budgets.

● Assisting the Vice President of Instruction with enrollment management, productivity, and growth.

● Serving as the manager of the library.

● May assist with sexual harassment and discrimination complaints when needed.

● Working flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, when necessary.

● Performing other duties as assigned.


Administrative assignment may include day, evening, weekend, and/or off campus work and/or hours.


Minimum Qualifications

1. Have a master’s degree* from an accredited institution complete by July 2, 2018.


2. Have two years formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrator’s administrative assignment.


3. Have sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities as it relates to differences in learning styles.
