Assistant Professor in Coaching, Sport, Recreation & Fitness Administration

Job Summary/Description

The Coaching, Sport, Recreation and Fitness Administration Graduate Program in the Archer College of Health and Human Services invites application for a nine month tenure-track faculty position that emphasizes teaching of recreation and fitness classes at the graduate level. Candidate will be involved with undergraduate teaching of wellness and related classes. Candidate should have a strong background in successful applied experiences, teaching, and scholarly activity.

Potential Curriculum includes: Recreational Programming, Health and Wellness Promotions, Intro to Therapeutic Recreation, Fitness Club Administration, Community Health Strategies and Professional Communication Writing

Typical Duties/Job Duties

Teach classes; serve on departmental, college, and university committees; continue or develop scholarly research and community service opportunities; supervise, mentor, and advise students. Involvement in community service and professional organizations is highly encouraged.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Candidate should possess strong written and oral communication skills and have the ability to collaborate with colleagues. Desired areas of expertise and teaching background include a specialist or generalist geared to recreation, fitness and wellness predominantly for the graduate program.

Minimum Qualifications

Completed doctorate in Recreation or closely related field. ABD will be considered. 1-2 years of college teaching experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

Professional experience in the field/related fields; evidence of excellent teaching; and potential for excellence in scholarly research; online teaching experience; and ability to procure external funding
