Lecturer of Music

Job description

The Department of Music at Smith College invites applications for a a one-year, non-tenure track Lecturer position in Vocal Studies, to begin July 1, 2018.  We seek an active performer with experience teaching studio voice in a variety of vocal styles, from classical to contemporary, including popular music. Candidates must demonstrate a record of teaching and an ability, from both interpretive and technical perspectives, to work with a wide range of student abilities and interests. A Master’s degree in Music or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required by the time of appointment. Candidates from groups underrepresented in Music are encouraged to apply.

 

Located in Northampton, MA, Smith College is the largest women’s college in the country and is dedicated to excellence in teaching and research across the liberal arts.  A faculty of outstanding scholars interact with students in small classes, as advisors, and through student-faculty research projects. The College is a member of the Five College Consortium with Amherst, Hampshire and Mt. Holyoke Colleges, and the University of Massachusetts Amherst.  Students cross-enroll and faculty cross-teach across the Five Colleges. The Smith College Department of Music features two choirs, a department-supported a cappella group, and many other performing ensembles.
