The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at Princeton University invites applications for a postdoctoral research associate or more senior research position. The position involves the development of numerical methods for multi-physics, multi-phase, and multi-components processes. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in a relevant science or engineering field, experience in scientific computing and finite element methods. The desired skills for the position include knowledge of the finite element method and its mathematical theory, OO software development in C++ (including version control), experience with HPC, knowledge of scripting languages such as Python and Julia. Additionally, familiarity with open source FE software, such as Deal.ii, as well as knowledge of multi-phase, multi-component processes are a plus. The position will be in the Computational Mechanics Group and the research will be conducted in collaboration with Prof. Maurizio M. Chiaramonte. This is a one-year appointment with a recommended target start date of January, 2018 with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and continued funding.
