The Stanford Department of Pathology seeks an outstanding new faculty member to lead our efforts in Molecular Pathology and Clinical Genomics, including the Clinical Genomics Program, Molecular Pathology, Cytogenetics and Biochemical Genetics, encompassing a comprehensive and integrated germline and somatic omics effort. The predominant criterion for appointment in the University Tenure Line is a major commitment to research and teaching, although often combined with clinical responsibilities. The major criteria for appointment in the Medical Center Line are excellence in clinical care, clinical teaching, and scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine, and the major criteria for appointment in the Clinician Education Line are excellence in clinical care and clinical teaching. There are many opportunities for MCL faculty to develop independent or collaborative programs in clinical, translational or basic research. Clinician Educators are encouraged to participate in research programs, as their clinical and educational responsibilities permit. Faculty rank and line will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

Successful candidates will join the faculty in the Department of Pathology, which currently includes a Nobel laureate, multiple members of the National Academies of Sciences and Medicine, and many other investigators with national and international distinctions. In addition to its outstanding research program, the Department of Pathology is responsible annually for over 3.8 million laboratory tests and 60,000 anatomic pathology specimens, and educates outstanding graduate students, residents, and fellows.

Candidates must be MD or MD/PhD, board certified in Anatomic Pathology and/or Clinical Pathology, hold ABMGG or MGP certification or equivalent qualification and must hold or acquire a license to practice medicine in the State of California; completion of subspecialty fellowship training or comparable subspecialty experience is desirable.
