Vice President, Communications

Reporting directly to the President, the person in this position will serve as Muhlenberg College’s chief communications officer. Muhlenberg values leadership of the highest caliber, and the Vice President is expected to be a leader of vision and integrity, to be a change agent of demonstrated expertise and conscientiousness, and to provide the creativity and energy to advance Muhlenberg’s communications across all dimensions.

The Vice President will join a dedicated and skilled leadership team at a seminal time in the life of Muhlenberg. A new institutional strategy is boosting Muhlenberg’s impact on its students through stronger academic programs, capital improvements, and intensified efforts to establish and nurture a diverse, inclusive and equitable campus culture. Major new fundraising and admissions endeavors are underway. New brand clarity has been established, and recent staff additions in Communications have expanded the office’s capabilities. The Vice President will play an instrumental role in working with senior staff colleagues and setting an impactful regional, national and global outreach effort that shapes success as never before across admissions, advancement, crisis management and other critical areas.

A bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication or other relevant field is required, and an advanced degree is preferred. The successful candidate will have at least 6 years of experience leading a communications effort, preferably in higher education.
