The Department of Women's and Gender Studies at Bucknell University invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position to begin August 2018. This position has the possibility of renewal for a second year pending positive review of the appointee's teaching at Bucknell.

We seek a women's/gender/sexuality studies teacher-scholar with expertise in the study of race in the United States. Teaching load is six courses for the academic year (three per semester). Teaching responsibilities include at least three sections of Introduction to Women's and Gender Studies, at least one course that focuses on race in the United States, and one or more courses that complement our current departmental offerings. Evidence of teaching experience and excellence is required. The successful candidate will have a track record of active support for diversity and inclusive, innovative pedagogy. By the start date of the position, candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. or be ABD.

Applicants should submit a complete dossier including a letter of application, C.V., a course syllabus for Introduction to Women's and Gender Studies, a syllabus for a course that focuses on race in the U.S., a complete set of official teaching evaluations for up to three courses, and three confidential letters of recommendation. In the letter of application, candidates should discuss their pedagogical approaches and their experience in the areas of diversity and inclusiveness. The committee will begin reviewing applications on March 1, 2018 and continue until the position is filled.
