Job Summary: The Hugh Hodgson School of Music at the University of Georgia (UGA) invites applications and nominations for the position of lecturer, artist-teacher of horn. Applicants meeting the minimum requirements are encouraged to apply. The lecturer will co-direct the horn studio in individual performance and classroom instruction of students, from undergraduate through advanced doctoral levels. The Hugh Hodgson School of Music and Lecturer Position The Hugh Hodgson School of Music (http:www.music.uga.edu) is among the leading schools of music in the region and nationally. It includes comprehensive programs, with degrees at the undergraduate level through the masters and doctorate. The title of lecturer applies to university assignments that call for training, credentials, and background similar to that of a faculty member with professorial rank but that involves primarily teaching (see description below). The position is not a tenure-track position, but carries a continuing, year-to-year appointment. Responsibilities of the Lecturer in Horn The lecturer in horn will work jointly with the current horn instructor in the following responsibilities: * Serve as an artist-teacher of horn, responsible for recruitment and individual-studio instruction of students from undergraduate through doctoral levels; * Instruct courses in studio and brass literature and pedagogy, as needed; * Coach chamber ensembles; * Perform and rehearse with the faculty brass quintet, including Professors Philip Smith, Brandon Craswell, Joshua Bynum, and David Zerkel; * Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: * A master's degree in horn (such as a Master of Music in Performance).

Preferred Qualifications: * A doctoral degree in horn (such as a Doctor of Musical Arts). Candidates lacking a doctoral degree must document exceptional accomplishments and professional experience. Candidates without a doctoral degree must be approved for a terminal degree exception before hire. * Demonstrated outstanding experience in performance; * Prior demonstrated teaching experience; * Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with students and faculty; * Interest in contributing to other academic or performance-based areas of the school; * A desire to contribute to a dynamic, holistic music program located in a city known for its music and arts culture.

Salary: Salary commensurate with credentials, experience, and reputation.
