Vice President for Business Affairs and Chief Financial Officer

The State University of New York at Potsdam (SUNY Potsdam) seeks an experienced higher education or government financial professional for Vice President for Business Affairs (VPBA) and Chief Financial Officer. The VPBA will be responsible for finance, budgeting, physical plant, employee health and safety, information technology, purchasing and payables, and other business functions. The VPBA will assume office by July 1.

SUNY Potsdam, on the outskirts of the beautiful Adirondack Park and an hour and a half from Lake Placid, is the oldest in the SUNY system. Major urban destinations include Ottawa (a 2-hour drive), Montreal, (a 2-1/2-hour drive), Burlington, VT (3 hours), and Syracuse, NY (2 ½ hours) and offer a variety of airline options.

SUNY Potsdam enrolls 3,321 undergraduates and 266 graduate students. Home to the renowned Crane School of Music, SUNY Potsdam is known for commitment to students' development and success, challenging liberal arts and sciences core, excellence in teacher education, and leadership in performing and visual arts. Requirements include:
• a bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, economics, accounting or a related discipline from an accredited institution (though an advanced degree is preferred);
• Impeccable integrity, a record of prudent and fiscally responsible financial leadership, and significant experience in both strategic and operational leadership; in addition, evidence of responsible management of personal credit relationships is expected;
• Senior financial leadership in public higher education (preferred) or government, SUNY or New York State or municipal government experience a plus; and a solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles;
• Strong knowledge of/experience with information technology and applications that support finance, administration and other business functions; and
• Evidence of significant experience in capital planning and facilities management.
